HISTORY OF THE CAPTAIN

Hotel Capitano

Grandfather Giuseppe, born in 1925, called "Il Capitano" came from a family of fishermen. At the age of 18 he undertook to sail the sea together with his brothers Dante and Antonio and his father Vincenzo with their boat "La Lancetta". Later he graduated from the Nautical Institute of Giulianova with the qualification of Captain and embarked on fishing boats bound for South Africa.

After many years he returned to Italy and bought a trawler, the "Tonimalfa", with which he sailed along the Adriatic. In 1976 he sold the boat and began construction work on the 16-room Capitano pension, which opened 2 years later, in 1978. After 9 years he expanded the structure with another 9 rooms, changing the name to Hotel Capitano.

Currently the hotel is in its third generation, completely renovated and still carries on the values and traditions of grandfather Giuseppe "Il Capitano".
